A 58-year-old man has died after the vehicle he was driving struck several cars parked at a business plaza in Surrey, B.C., on Saturday morning.

In a statement, Surrey Police Service said emergency crews were called around 11:55 a.m. to the intersection of Fraser Highway and 64 Avenue, where a single vehicle had mounted a curb and hit seven unoccupied parked cars.

Police say the driver of the vehicle died despite life-saving efforts from firefighters and paramedics.

While the cause of the man’s death has not been confirmed, police say investigators believe the 58-year-old may have suffered a medical emergency.

One westbound lane of Fraser Highway between 64 Avenue and 196 Street remained closed late Saturday afternoon as collision investigators analyzed the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternate routes while the investigation continues.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam or surveillance footage from the area to contact the Surrey Police Service.
