Canadian snowboarder Francis Jobin claims slopestyle gold for 1st career World Cup victory

Canada’s Francis Jobin captured a snowboard slopestyle gold medal and earned his first World Cup podium in Aspen, Colo., on Sunday.

The 26-year-old native of Quebec City put together a crisp run in the 16-man final, scoring 79.30 en route to the top of the podium.

He cleared his first two rails with nearly flawless execution, also landing a switch backside double rodeo 1260 nosegrab to cap a stellar run.

Jobin’s previous best in slopestyle was fourth, and after a seventh-place position following qualification his victory came as an upset.

Quebec City’s Francis Jobin gets his first career world cup victory with a stellar showing in Aspen.

Amy Fraser, of Calgary, went on to claim bronze in the freeski halfpipe, earning her first podium of the season.

The 29-year-old recorded a 86.75 score, placing behind winner Zoe Atkin of Great Britain and silver medallist Fanghui Li of China.

Fellow Canadians Cassie Sharpe (fifth) and Rachael Karker (sixth) missed the podium.
