A man armed with a knife was taken into custody Sunday morning after barricading himself on a transit bus on Annacis Island in Delta, B.C., according to police.
In a statement, Delta police said several passengers and the driver were safely evacuated from the bus, and no injuries were reported.
Officials said the man was arrested just after 11 a.m., and that there was no ongoing risk to the public. Crisis negotiators and the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team were brought in to assist.
The situation prompted temporary road closures, with DriveBC reporting that the Cliveden Avenue overpass and the Highway 91 Exit 10 off-ramp to Cliveden were blocked for a time.
By midday, DriveBC said all affected routes had reopened.
