Langley RCMP have lifted a shelter-in-place order issued Tuesday afternoon for residents in the 4400-block of 236 Street.

Police said they were responding to check the well-being of a person in the area when they received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire.

Several officers from the Langley RCMP attended, police said, along with officers from the Integrated Emergency Response Team and Integrated Police Dog Services.

“This is an active event, and we are asking everyone in the area to adhere to police directions, shelter in place within the immediate vicinity or avoid the area for their own safety,” Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said at the time in a statement.

One person has been taken into custody. The shelter-in-place order has been lifted, and there is no ongoing threat to the public, Sharoom said late Tuesday afternoon in an updated statement.

Sharoom says no one was injured, but police are remaining in the area to continue their investigation.
