Terminally-ill Sir Chris Hoy has fulfilled a “bucket list” trip in Wales.

He said rugby star George North also gave him a restaurant “tip off” for his jaunt.

The six-time Olympic cycling champion was diagnosed with terminal cancer in September 2023.

In an Instagram post he described his trip as “the stuff dreams are made of!”

The 48-year-old wrote on social media that he loaned a Porsche Singer Turbo and spent a few days on the road with his wife Sarra Hoy.

He described how he had “one of the most memorable meals and evenings” of his life at a Michelin star restaurant in Machynlleth, Powys.

He then went on to thank fellow sportsman North and his wife Becky North for the restaurant “tip off”.

Describing his mode of transport, Sir Hoy wrote: “A bucket list car that didn’t just live up to my sky high expectations but far exceeded them.

“What a flippin machine!!

“Loved every second in it. I even enjoyed washing it this afternoon before it goes back tomorrow.”

The Scotsman discovered he had a terminal illness in September 2023.

He gave an interview to the Sunday Times, in which he said that had been diagnosed with primary cancer in his prostate, which had spread to his bones – meaning it was stage four.

He also said doctors have told him he has between two and four years to live.

Following a scan, his wife Sarra Hoy learned she had multiple sclerosis in November 2023.
