The lawyer for Reza Valizadeh, an Iranian American dual-national journalist imprisoned in Iran, announced that his client’s appeal has been rejected. In a social media post on Wednesday, defense attorney Mohammad Hossein Aghasi stated that Valizadeh has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, despite the Islamic Republic’s own laws prescribing a maximum penalty of just one year for his charges.
