Police in Abbotsford, B.C., are looking for a man who allegedly forced a woman into his car and sexually assaulted her early Tuesday morning.

According to the Abbotsford Police Department, the woman was waiting for a friend in the 33900 block of Gladys Avenue around 5:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday when a man driving a white Tesla Model 3 approached her and asked her to get into the car.

When she refused, police say the man forced her into the car and sexually assaulted her. The woman was driven south, to the 600 block of McKenzie Road, where she managed to escape and get help from nearby residents.

Police say the victim and alleged perpetrator did not know each other.

Police are asking for help from the public in finding the suspect.

He is described as a heavy-set Hispanic man in his 30s to early 40s, standing five feet eight inches tall. He had black hair in a ponytail and was wearing a black tank top, dark grey shorts and flip-flops at the time of the assault, according to police.

Anyone with more information on the case — including dashcam video from the area of Gladys Avenue between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, and the area of McKenzie and Vye roads between 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. that day — is asked to contact police.
